This new release sports a brand-new graphical interface compatible with Windows Vista, adds support for BluRay discs, introduces Droppix SmartDisc a new wizard designed by Droppix to simplify all recording and printing projects and comes with a new music CD creation module and a new built-in search wizard to find any document in seconds.

Droppix Recorder 2.0 comes bundled with Droppix Label Maker Lite 2.8 an advanced new solution for Lightscribe CD and DVD label authoring.

Droppix Recorder is an advanced, all-in-one software solution that provides the tools necessary to easily capture, organize and edit digital media files, and burn them to CD or DVD. While some burning applications are built for professional users and others have only a few features to be truly useful, Droppix Recorder offers a wealth of advanced functions and an easy-to-use interface simple enough for beginners.

New for Droppix Recorder 2.0 :

● New interface: Droppix Recorder sports a brandnew graphical interface which is now even more intuitive and user-friendly, making all functions — from the very simplest right through to the most advanced — easily accessible to all users.

● BluRay disc support: This new edition of Droppix Recorder can record data onto BluRay discs. If you have a recorder which is compatible with this technology, you can now easily back up over 25 Gb of data to a singlelayer BDR (recordable) or BDRE (rewritable) disc.

● Droppix SmartDisc : Droppix SmartDisc is a new wizard designed by Droppix to simplify all recording and printing projects. Droppix SmartDisc offers a very simple, user-friendly interface which allows you to design, record and even print any type of disc (data, music or video) with just a few clicks of your mouse. So for a successful project every time, let Droppix SmartDisc take you step-by-step through the process!

● New music CD creation modu le : The music CD creation module has seen considerable enhancements and improvements: There is a new graphical interface, added support for audio files in the FLAC, MPC and APE formats, easy creation of cross fades between tracks, normalisation of all tracks on an album, new CDDB (Internet) album information search module, etc.

● New search wizard : The Droppix Recorder file explorer now has a new builtin search wizard. Using this new wizard, it takes just a few seconds to find all the documents you want to back up – and you don’t even have to leave Droppix Recorder. If you have MSN Desktop Search, you can carry out a keyword search in exactly the same way as you would on the Web.

● Builtin CD/ DVD Label Making and LightScribe Support: You can now also use all the features of Droppix Label Maker Lite directly from the Droppix Recorder interface. A merge process allows you to link your recording and label printing projects with just one click of the mouse.

● Improved DVDVideo burning support: Droppix Recorder DVDVideo burning engine has been seriously improved and recorded DVDs are now 100% compatible with most home DVD players.

Vista rumour and RPC1 drive
2006-01-14 Posted by Millenod

Many weeks ago, I read that Windows Vista won't support anymore RPC1 (= not zoned) DVD drives.
Today, I installed the latest windows Vista available to testers (build 5270) (december 2005).

I'm living in France (so, my DVD drives are Zone 2).

Test 1 : Zone 1 DVD, tested on a zone 2 drive :
- Windows Media Player : doesn't detect the media.
- Media Player Classic : Can't read the media.

At this point it's normal. the DVD can be read only with a compatible drive.
I decide to install AnyDVD. This software installs its driver which works in the background to automatically remove the copy protection of a DVD movie as soon as it's inserted into the drive.

Test 2 : AnyDVD, Zone 1 DVD, tested on a zone 2 drive
All software can read the media.

So AnyDVD does its job.
I'm now using a RPC1 drive : Samsung SD-612, with firmware E1E0 (thanks to Etna for the patch).

Test 3 : Zone 1 DVD, tested on a RPC1 drive :
- Windows Media Player : doesn't detect the media.
- Media Player Classic : Works great

Strange isn't it? Windows Media Player doesn't want to read the DVD from a RPC1 drive.

Test 4 : AnyDVD, Zone 1 DVD, tested on a RPC1 drive :
- Windows Media Player : doesn't detect the media.
- Media Player Classic : Works great

That's the origin of the rumour : Windows Media Player doesn't acccept any DVD from a RPC1 drive.

Petition against french DADVSI Law
2005-12-05 19:52:00 Posted by Millenod

Usually, i don't write about politics and laws!
I'm currently living in France, and a project law, the DADVSI project, will be voted on december 21st and 22nd.

This one will:
- legitimate technical devices of control of use and tracing (technical measurements) installed by editors and producers on digital media (CD, DVD, etc), in software, electronic hardware and multimedia files;
- remove the right of private copy and drastically restrict the usage of digital media
- impose the cost of technical measurements preventing private copies on the customers, while preserving the royalties on digital media paid for private copies
- penalize the diffusion of technical information allowing to include/understand the operation of technical measurements;
- to penalize the use, the development and the diffusion of free software.

Imagine a world where we can't provide any source code... where companies make laws, where they can spy on what you do, which film you're watching; where you can't use any free web server or exchange data through your personal ftp server...
It's maybe the new world french people will discover in january if this law is passed!

So french people must sign this petition against DADVSI project!
